Zusammenfassung:Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is a common and distressing complication following surgery and anesthesia and may result in dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, wound dehiscence, pulmonary aspiration and delayed hospital discharge. Despite widespread use of prophylactic antiemetic agents, short-acting anesthetics and minimally invasive surgical techniques, PONV still affects about 20–40% of surgical patients, with certain high-risk patients experiencing rates of up to 80%
