Zusammenfassung: | [LANGUAGE= "English"] Purpose: To evaluate the outcomes of photodynamic therapy (PDT) with verteporfin in patients with subfoveal choroidal neovascularisation (CNV) caused by pathologic myopia.Materials and Methods: Eight eyes of 8 patients with subfoveal choroidal neovascular membran (CNV) due to pathologic myopia were included in the study. All patients had a > -6.00 spheric equivalent diopters, and pathologic myopia fundus findings. Best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), fundus fluorescein angiography findings and complications were recorded before and after PDT treatment. Results: The study group included 5 females and 3 males with a mean age of 47.8 years. In 6 eyes (75%), visual acuity improved or remained stable after a mean follow up period of 10.6 months. The mean PDT treatment value was 2.0±0.75. Mean initial LogMAR BCVA was 0.52, which improved to a value of 0.38 following treatment. Conclusion: Photodynamic therapy (PDT) with verteporfin is an effective and safe treatment option in patients with subfoveal CNV secondary to pathologic myopia to stabilize and improve the visual acuity. |
