-dienes was used to synthesize diols and ketols containing a tetrahydrofuran fragment. Diastereoselective reduction of ketols with L-selectride yielded target diols. In addition, by oxidation of ketols with Dess—Martin periodinane, diketones were synthesized in high yields. |
