Zusammenfassung:A 3‐year‐old Maltese dog presented with vestibular signs that worsened after a grass seed was removed from the right external ear canal. Neurological examination was suggestive of a brainstem lesion. Magnetic resonance imaging of the head was performed, and findings were consistent with infectious meningoencephalitis and otogenic pneumocephalus secondary to intracranial extension of right otitis media. A culture of the right middle ear effusion yielded Staphylococcus epidermidis . The dog was euthanased under general anaesthesia due to worsening of the cardiovascular and respiratory parameters. Pneumocephalus in dogs has been described secondary to surgery, trauma, meningocele and meningoencephalocele. To the authors' knowledge, this is the first case report describing otogenic pneumocephalus in a dog.
