Zusammenfassung: | Sampson recalls the styles of men's golf clothing. Among other things, clothes historian Gilbert Freeman believes that a Sunday in Apr 1984 was pivotal in the history of golf clothing. That was the day when pro named Larry Mize took the great Greg Norman to a playoff in the Masters and beat him with an astonishing pitch-in on the eleventh hole at Augusta National. Mize wore his black trousers and matches it with a shirt with stacked blocks of color separated by white stripes--from waist up: black, purple, and lavender. The shirt's manufacturer, Aureus, had done an efficient job getting it and similarly designed garments into golf course pro shops throughout the land. |
