Prospects for the development of hydrocarbon resources in the water area of the East Arctic seas

Despite its scarce exploration, it is expected that the Russian Eastern Arctic has great hydrocarbon resources. The absence of drilled wells in the region significantly restricts the understanding of the future of sedimentation basins, hydrocarbon systems as well as their potential assessment. Against no drilling data any forecasts concerning the material composition of sediments and key hydrocarbon system components are mostly hypothetic. However, even under today’s high uncertainty of initial data, the basin modeling conducted allowed identifying the most promising sections.
