Zusammenfassung: | Krusemeyer et al discuss the 81st William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition, originally scheduled for December 5, 2020, was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. It eventually took place in an unofficial capacity on February 20, 2021. Students self-proctored the exam, and no prizes were awarded in 2023. Nevertheless, the solutions were graded and students were informed of their own scores, but there will be no public announcement of scores or winners. There were 1593 undergraduates, from 360 institutions across the United States and Canada, who participated in the competition. The competition is held annually, under the auspices of the Mathematical Association of America. It is supported by the William Lowell Putnam Prize Fund for the Promotion of Scholarship, an endowment established by Elizabeth Lowell Putnam in 1927 in memory of her husband. |
