The Eighty-Second William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition

The 82nd William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition took place on Dec 4, 2021. There were 2975 undergraduates who participated in the competition at 427 institutions across the US and Canada. The competition is held annually, under the auspices of the Mathematical Association of America. It is supported by the William Lowell Putnam Prize Fund for the Promotion of Scholarship, an endowment established by Elizabeth Lowell Putnam in 1927 in memory of her husband. The Problems Committee for the 82th competition consisted of Andrew Bernoff (chair), Harvey Mudd College; Karl Mahlburg, Susquehanna International Group; and Richard Stong, Center for Communications Research. Additional proposed problems were contributed by Gabriel Carroll, University of Toronto, and Andrew Granville, University of Montreal.
