Zusammenfassung: | The global construction industry is flourishing at a fast pace and helps in the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth, and provides employment opportunities to a large population. In modern times, quality construction is the key to the success of any developing economy and must be assessed critically. It is essential that the construction quality must be of the highest standards and shall corroborate with international standards. The vast majority of the researchers believe that every construction project is unique in its own capacity; hence it is challenging to have a common platform for scoring and understanding the level of quality in the construction industry. In such a situation, developing a reliable ‘Quality Index’ is quite challenging, and its paucity lies thereof. As such, there is a dire need to develop a comprehensible construction quality analysis index that might be capable of being adopted and implemented within various industrial sectors to assess project quality. In the present research, the researchers have attempted to develop a quality index that may be used by the engineers, project managers, supervisors, etc., to monitor the quality of their respective projects. The newly developed quality index is based on a micro-analysis of the activities and sub-activities generally involved in the construction project. Its step-by-step work procedure/ evaluation protocol in detail is described in the present paper. It can thus act as a ready reckoner for engineers, project managers, supervisors, etc., to determine the quality of their construction projects and take necessary actions towards successfully implementing their respective projects. |
