Zusammenfassung: | The massive increase in traffic on the Internet which driving an affiliated tremendous increase in power consumption. The OBS strategy can reduce power consumption by dwindling the processing of the header in the intermediate switching. In addition, combining OBS networks with translucent optic links have been considered energy effective. Where translucent optic links with maintained the quality of signal avoid the use O/ E/O 3R regenerators. This paper presents the OBS network’s power consumption model with 3R for traditional networks and 2R for the translucent network. The results indicate that the use of OBS networks with applicable parameter settings in particular the Burstification Time (BT) with 2R regenerators enables significant energy savings in the core network by nearly 35% when compared to the use of OBS networks with 3R regenerators. The paper also provides a fine model for the computation of total power consumption in OBS translucent and traditional networks, calculating the power needed for an optic bit over an OBS network. |
