Zusammenfassung:A catalytic system obtained by mixing 1,1,3,3-tetramethylguanidine and iodine was tested for the reaction of monosubstituted oxiranes with CO 2 affording organic cyclic carbonates. The catalyst turned out to be effective not only for substrates with substituents, which have different sizes and donor-acceptor properties, but also in the case of bis-oxiranes.
