Zusammenfassung: | Folklore in a community consists of many meanings and values regarding precious indigenous knowledge. Globalization and technology have limited the spread of folklore as the primary medium to share information formerly. An excellent opportunity to inform the children about the meaning and value of folklore, mainly which exists in their living area, is in school. This study focused on discussing using teaching material from the folklore owned by the community. In this study, one of the important objects of the study was folklore about taeb, one of the main foods in the Leukon community on Simeulue Island, Aceh Province, which is not known nowadays by the younger generation of Leukon. It is important to have information regarding the environment regarding food security in a community. The purpose of this study was to propose that teachers, instructors, or trainers embed the value of responsibility toward the environment to students’ minds through folklore. This is qualitative research using the ethnography method. The study showed that folklore contains local knowledge owned by the Leukon community to inform the students officially in school regarding character building to the Leukon young generation. |
