Zusammenfassung:Too often the information proves fragmented and the process choppy. [...]gaps in my skills drew me to Transference-Focused Psychotherapy: For Adolescents With Severe Personality; in its pages, I found a different way to start and stay the course with my BPD patients. Understanding this may have a significant effect on understanding countertransference and using it to clarify roles, tasks, boundaries, and supportive techniques. An important question that this book raises is: does TFP-A really work? A recent Cochrane review on psychotherapy for BPD counts TFP among the beneficial treatments for borderline personality disorder, together with dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), mentalization-based therapy (MBT), schema therapy, and systems training for emotional predictability and problem solving (STEPPS).4 However, one needs to consider that this review looked at treatment mostly in adults, and that a recent systematic review conducted in 2021 notes that the overall quality of studies on BPD treatments is very low; there remains a need for high-quality trials with larger samples to identify effective psychological therapies for youths with BPD or BPD features.5 In conclusion clinicians, trainees, and supervisors may consider adding this book to their personal collection.
