Zusammenfassung:Electron beam surfacing is studied experimentally to find the total baseline power that is close to the minimum power necessary for wire melting and fusion with the substrate. The results indicate the presence of internal defects in the region screened from direct beam action, even though there are no external signs of incomplete fusion. To ensure defect-free fusion, the thermal power must be increased by 50% relative to the baseline. However, in the presence of an arc discharge between the wire and the workpiece, defect-free surfacing is possible at the baseline power of the three heat sources: the electric arc and two electron beams.
