Zusammenfassung:For the existence of human life on earth, water is one of the essential requisite. Water is required for farming, manufacturing sector as well as fulfilling the basic needs of human beings. The physico-chemical characteristics of water play a major role in the aquatic ecosystem. For any ecosystem, the most important characteristic feature is to maintain the balance between biotic and abiotic factors. If abiotic components alter, it will clearly reflect in the biotic life. Good physico-chemical and microbiological characteristics of water is required for the active and healthy water ecosystem. Present study evaluate the physico-chemical and microbiological characteristics of drinking water, well water, tanker water, corporation water supply and bore well water gathered from five different places (Hadapsar, Chandan Nagar, Bharanpur, Kothari and Dehu Road) from Pune city in Maharashstra. In addition to this, two samples were collected from river water (Mula-Mutha) and sewage water (Kharadi). The results of this study reflects that different areas of Pune city highlights as most of the physico-chemical parameters measured were slightly diverse except Bharanpur bore water, which needs much purification, while Hadapsar was found very good location for water uses. Sewage water samples taken from kharadi were also found better than expected that clearly reflects that municipality department of Pune is working efficiently with water discharging policies. Dheu Road well water and Chandan Nagar bore water contains high calcium and magnesium levels. Furthermore Bharanpur bore water has highest magnesium levels. In microbiological analysis it was observed that PMC water and drinking water samples were found fit for human consumption in comparison to other water samples. Such poor quality of water might be possible due to the anthropogenic contribution that is continuously contaminating the fresh water resources and depleting the quality of water. We should encourage the people not to pollute our water resources as well as aware them about their importance also.
