Setting the problem for calculating the reliability indicators of hydrodynamic journal bearings of dynamic pumps

Bearings, particularly hydrodynamic journal bearings, are crucial elements in the design of many dynamic pumps. The durability of the bearings determines the reliability of the entire pump unit. Unlike rolling bearings, for which there are generally accepted formulas and methodologies for determining the service life, there are no such methodologies for journal bearings, and determining the service life is still a problem for which no unambiguous solution has been found. In this paper, we propose the definition of the problem for determining the reliability indicators of hydrodynamic journal bearings.
