Zusammenfassung: | Filming in cinema verité style for over 30 years, "triple threat" documentarian Alexandra Pelosi (who filmed, directed, and produced the 2002 film, her 14th documentary for HBO) incorporated hand-held footage from the violent attack on the Capitol on Jan 6, 2023. Against the filmed backdrop of the shouts of the attackers, the gallows erected for then-Vice President/President of the Senate Mike Pence, the hunt through Capitol corridors to shouts of "Kill Pelosi" and "Where is she?," the attacks (including fatal) on the Capitol Police, the destruction in her office and in the House Chamber (including brutish defecation by the mob), and the late-night Electoral College voter certification on the cleaned-up floor of the House, Speaker Pelosi repeatedly, forcefully, yet calmly explained the need to respect the constitutional procedure for certifying the election of the president. The film also captured, in the days that followed, vignettes of Speaker Pelosi as she successfully navigated the second Articles of Impeachment through the House against the then-president, the only president twice impeached in US history. |
