Main Diseases of Zucchini and Their Prevention and Control Methods

Abstract This paper elaborates the symptom characteristics and control methods of virus diseases including squash leaf curl china vinas & SLCCNV) , watermelon mosaic vinas & WMV) , cucurbit chlorotic yellows virus & CCYV) , cucumber mosaic vinas & CMV) and zucchini yellow mosaic vinas & ZYMV) , as well as fungal diseases including zucchini powdery mildew, zucchini downy mildew and zucchini scab that harm zucchini production, in order to provide a theoretical basis and technical support for disease prevention and control of zucchini. In this paper, the characteristics and control methods of several main diseases of zucchini are elaborated , in order to provide a relevant theoretical basis and technical support for disease prevention and control of zucchini. 2 Virus diseases infecting zucchini Zucchini virus disease, also called mosaic disease, is the most common disease in the cultivation process of zucchini. SLCCNV is transmitted by Bemista tabaci in a persistent and circular manner, and infection of SLCCNV will cause plant dwarfing and leaf curling, resulting in reduced economic benefits and declined product quality#31. Statistics show that CMV infection once led to a decline of 25% - 50% in tomato yield in China#361 , and also led to a substantial reduction in the yield of melons in Spain, with a yield reduction rate as high as 60%.
