Zusammenfassung:International law is deep-rooted in Western legal thinking and continues to be greatly influenced by Western ideology and legal philosophy. If international law is to be truly international, it must reflect the cultural values and needs of all nations. Professor Wang Guiguo's new publication International Economic Law from the Perspective of Chinese Traditional Culture provides an insight from the Chinese perspective into how this diverse range of cultural experiences can contribute to making the international economic order more relevant to the needs of contemporary society. This article seeks to introduce, through a review of this book, the Chinese conception of law and how the Chinese criteria for identifying just and efficient law can help guide the future directions of international law, and more particularly, international economic law.
