Zusammenfassung: | Wear of components has always been a grave concern for automobile engines and other machinery, which manifests in loss of energy and efficiency of engines. Hence this research work is focused on calculation of rate of adhesive wear by finding the Hertzian contact forces in interaction between cam and follower working under very thin film of lubricant. Here fifth order polynomial cam and flat faced follower mechanism were closely studied to predict the wear and hertz pressures in inlet and outlet cam at salient camshaft angle of Direct Injection diesel engine. The findings of this work are well within the permissible limits and experimental results. This research work has great significance in the selection of composition of wear resistant materials and lubricants which may curtail friction and energy loss of engines. |
