Zusammenfassung:The main objective of the research is to reduce the dead load of the member and to determine the strength of a column with is in-filled with rubber and graphite powder. In current scenario the disposal of non - use or waste tyres are a great challenge in waste management around the world. It is observed that around 1.2 billion of tyre waste is produced globally per year. Among this 11% of used tyres are exported, 27% are sent to landfill, 58% are dumped illegally and only 4% is used for civil engineering works. Many researchers have been done to use the tyre waste rubber in various applications. In which, rubber in powder format can be used in concrete by partially replacing the natural aggregates. A study had been carried out on a concrete column by replacing fine aggregate with waste chipped rubber and graphite powder filled in a pvc pipe. The specimens were casted and tested. The results of rubber filled columns, graphite filled columns and rubber & graphite power filledcolumns were compared with conventional columns in terms of workability and strength. The standard sizes of 1000*150*150 mm columns of M20 grade were casted and cured for a period of 28days. The buckling strength ofthe columns were studied and observed that the column filled with rubber and graphite powder has more resistance to buckling.
