Zusammenfassung: | This study aimed to evaluate in vitro free radical scavenging activity and in vitro anti-diabetic properties of extracts from the sprout of Borassus fabellifier. Antioxidant activity was performed using DPPH, ABTS, FRAP, SO, and NO inhibition methods. The enzymes (α-amylase and α- Glucosidase inhibitory activities were investigated. Moreover, glucose adsorption and diffusion properties were also studied to confirm the potential effect of the sprout of B. fabellifier as an anti-diabetic drug. The ethanolic extracts of B. flabellifer exhibited high antioxidant activity towards DPPH, ABTS, FRAP, SO, and NO. However, the ethanolic extracts possessed the strongest inhibitory effect towards α-amylase and α-Glucosidase. The ethanolic extract showed excellent anti-diabetic activity when we examined using glucose adsorption and Glucose diffusion methods. This study suggested that the extracts from Borassus fabellifier sprout may act as a potential medicinal plant to treat diabetic complications. |
