Prospects for using railway technologies in the transportation of MSW

In the article, the authors consider the prospects of using railway technologies in the transportation of MSW. Railway transport has modern, efficient and environmentally attractive technologies. Transportation of MSW by rail to remote waste collection points has a number of advantages compared to the delivery of their municipal equipment. Among them is the reduction of commercial risks and regulated deadlines for the delivery of waste (the time for initial and final operations is reduced to zero, only the time en route is taken into account). It is also important to reduce the load on existing road transport arteries. When choosing the destination of MSW, in addition to environmental and economic criteria, currently, as practice shows, it is necessary to take into account the social activity of the population of the regions where MSW is planned to arrive.
