Zusammenfassung: | The less lacerate nature of the flowers observed is not surprising, given the few flowering specimens available at the time of this species' description (Edwin Bridges, personal communication). Nonetheless, the combination of habitat specificity (Figure 1B), rhizomatous growth form (Figure 1C), and narrow, lacerate petal blades (Figure 1A) make this species distinct among peninsular Florida Xyris species. To collect individuals of X. correlliorum, spreading rhizomes were teased apart from the intertwined masses of Cyperus blepharoleptos roots and the herbaceous stems of Mayaca fluviatilis and Sphagnum sp. |
