Zusammenfassung:This article presents an aerodynamic characteristics study of GNVR profiles (airships) lighter than aircraft, using the concept of computational fluid dynamics. Airships have huge potential as platforms for various purposes such as surveillance, cargo transportation, and communication. At high-altitudes, because of low density of air, airships need to be designed and developed with a huge body so as to obtain enough buoyancy for balancing its own weight. Thus, the aerodynamic parameters play an important role in control and propulsion of airships. The conceptual design of the Rigid model of airship was developed using CAD model software. The aerodynamics characteristics of the GNVR profile were examined for different angles of attack at fixed velocities. From the numerical work, it was found that the changes of AOA at different flight speeds increase the lift and decrease the drag of the modeled profile.
