Zusammenfassung: | There are various types of viscometers that are used to measure the viscosity of a fluid, one of which is a falling ball viscometer, which is done by measuring the time it takes a ball to pass a liquid a certain distance based on the principles of Stokes' Law and Newton's Law. However, errors often occur when measuring the travel time of objects through fluids, especially fluids that have low viscosity coefficients. This study uses a viscometer with motion sensor (Visco-MS) to improve the accuracy of measuring the travel time of the ball as it passes through the fluid. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of accuracy of Visco-MS to measure the ball velocity in the viscosity test. This study used one type of ball which was tested on three types of fluids with different viscosity levels. Measurements were carried out in two ways, namely measurements on an ordinary viscometer, and measurements made using Visco-MS. The results of this study indicate that there is a difference in the time obtained on the ordinary viscometer and Visco-Ms. This is evidenced by the percentage value of accuracy obtained when measuring the travel time of the ball reaching 97.78%. Visco-MS is even capable of detecting the travel time of objects passing through fluids with low viscosity values. |
