Zusammenfassung: | In the production process, cutting tools are a very important component. However good cutting tools are expensive. Most people make these cutting tools from cemented carbide joined with steel. In the joining process using another metal as a filler. In this study dissimilar metals joint between cemented carbide and carbon steel using Cu-Si alloy was studied. The microstructure characteristic in the joint was detected using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The composition of elements in the brazing area is determined using energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). Vickers hardness machine is used to hardness test in the brazed area. The results of microstructure analysis that the brazed layer free defect, pores, and cracks. It can be seen that the filler metals have enough wetting characteristics. EDS test result, the brazed layer consists of the solid solution phase enriched Cu and Fe. The hardness test results show that the hardness in middle of the brazed area is 12.16 VHN. |
