We report a simple process for the preparation of crystalline calcium hydroxyapatite powder with increased fluidity, suitable for plasma spraying and 3D printing of ceramic bioresorbable implants. Particles less than 15 μm in size have been shown to influence the fluidity of hydroxyapatite powder. We demonstrate that, using a technique that includes grinding, annealing, and removal of small particles by wet–dry sieving, one can obtain powder having a fluidity of 57.1 s/50 g and ranging in particle size from 40 to 90 μm. |
