Zusammenfassung:In the summer of 1940, professor of Nordic languages Peter Skautrup (1896-1982) and a group of his students at Aarhus University went on a 14-day excursion by bicycle – the bicycle tour in Danish dialectology, referred to here as the dialect bicycle tour. The route crossed northwest from Hundslund near Horsens, and it ended in Hanherred and Thy. The professional purpose was to make records and thereby "determine the geographical border between West Jutland and East Jutland" (Gregersen 2016: 68), i.e. linguistic fieldwork.
