Scholars from these groups have been hit hardest by the adverse effects of the pandemic on scholarly working conditions, especially if they have also had young children or if they have been living with pre-existing medical conditions. Here at Gender Forum, we want to acknowledge the energy it takes to publish in times like the ones we are living in now, especially when your financial situation is not stable, when your future is insecure, when concerns for your own health or the health of others keep you away from networking opportunities, and when you dont have a room of your own to work in or enough time for your research due to care-taking responsibilities. Dr. Judith Rauscher is assistant professor of American Literature and Culture at the University of Cologne and general editor of Gender Forum: An Internet Journal for Gender Studies.
