Syntheisis of Divinyl Ether from 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) and Calcium Carbide

The reduction of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural gave 2,5-bis(hydroxymethyl)furan, which was further vinylated using calcium carbide. As a result, the corresponding divinyl ether was obtained under optimized conditions.
