The Nature of Oleocellosis in Citrus Fruits

Results of a study showed that oleocellosis in citrus fruits caused the cell wall in the subepidermal cell layers to collapse and thicken and that no protoplasmic structures could be identified. The greenish spots that result are due to large quantities of chlorophyll.
