Zusammenfassung:This study evaluates the possibilities of the effective application of digital procedures in the metallurgy industry and materials science to control structures and fractures. The critical factors of the preparation and processing of digital images, which ensure the reproducibility of the measurement results of individual elements and their configuration as a whole, are identified. The necessity of taking into account the statistical nature of the geometry of structures and fractures in the course of processing the obtained results is demonstrated. Measurement digitalization provides more in-depth information about the configuration of technologically inevitable inhomogeneous structures and fractures, which is essential for quantitative measurements. The accumulation of sufficient measurement statistics will enable the standardization of their requirements.
