Zusammenfassung: | Golovin analyzes 25 animal figures according to the frequency of their appearance in lullaby texts, and divides them into eight groups: soothers, harmers, mediators, sacrificial animals, sleeping animals, symbolic animals, animals connected to the future of the infant, those borrowed from other genres, and those originally from literary texts. Apart from the multi-level analysis of the lullaby texts, the book is enriched with numerous examples of folk beliefs, omens, and customs connected to birth, breast-feeding, and baptism in Russian folklore. |
