Telling the world about nuclear physics

Nuclear physics has a particular public relations problem with deep historical roots. Some of the steps beingtaken by the nuclear physics community to counter this aredescribed in this article. In particular, a European organization,PANS, is taking a number of specific actions, including atravelling exposition, a book and a web page, to bring a truerimage of nuclear physics before the public.
