Zusammenfassung:The reaction of 16-electron complex ( p -cymene)Ru(S 2 C 2 B 10 H 10 ) ( I ) with ( cyclo -C 6 H 10 )(OH)C≡CH in CH 2 Cl 2 at —10 °C leads to a new complex ( p -cymene)Ru(S 2 C 2 B 10 H 9 )(CH 2 C(OH)( cyclo -C 6 H 10 )) ( II ), which spontaneously lose water to generate complex ( p -cymene)Ru(S 2 C 2 B 10 H 9 )(CH 2 C( cyclo -C 6 H 9 )) ( III ) in CH 2 Cl 2 at room temperature. Both complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, mass, IR and NMR spectroscopy. X-ray structural analysis was performed on III . For complex III crystallographic data are: space group P 2 1 / c , a  = 10.9787(11) Å, b  = 14.5241(15) Å, c  = 17.1028(17) Å, α = 90°, β = 107.8030(10)°, γ = 90°, V  = 2596.5(5) Å 3 , D c  = 1.401 g/cm 3 , Z  = 4, F (000) = 1176, μ = 0.774 mm –1 . In the structure, the coordinated terminal alkyne is bonded to one of the Ru–S bonds, B-substitution occurs at the o -carborane cage in the position B(3) with the formation of Ru–B bond, and the central ruthenium atom bonded to a p -cymene ring satisfies the 18-electron rule.
