Non-invasive test for lung cancer by sniffer mouse discrimination task for urinary odors

Zusammenfassung: | In this study, we trained a pair of two sniffer mice for two urine samples, which would differmore stably than exhaled breath samples and can be collected non-invasively from patients or healthy volunteers. In the Y-maze test, sniffer mice were trained using human urine samples from 3 lung cancer patients or 3 healthy persons until the correct answer rate was 80% or higher. We investigated whether trained sniffer mice could distinguish lung cancer patients not used for training. As a result, lung cancer patient (1 person) and healthy subject (1 person) were identified with a correct answer rate of 80% or more. This result supports the presence of urinary volatile markers in human lung cancer. |
