Zusammenfassung:In this work, a comparative study of samples of calcined needle and green (low-temperature) coke was carried out using the methods of X-ray phase and structural analyses and analytical scanning electron microscopy. Their structural parameters (La, Lc) of the materials were determined and microstructure features investigated. It was shown that the calcined needle coke had an anisotropic structure with La >> Lc, in contrast to the green coke, for which the La and Lc parameters were comparable. Calcined needle coke was characterized by higher values of La and Lc parameters than green coke. Differences in the structural parameters of coke were expressed in the difference in morphology and textural characteristics of coke particles. Particles of calcined needle coke were formed by lamellae packs, between which there were slit-like pores, and the structure of particles of "raw" coke had an amorphous spongy microstructure. The revealed relationship between the structural and morphological characteristics of coke particles allowed one to consider the proposed integrated approach as a necessary complementary toolkit to assess the quality of the resulting coke.
