The failure of oilfield equipment due to the corrosion significantly reduces the service life and ultimately leads to environmental pollution and huge material and economic costs. Since the corrosion of metal equipment occurs at the metal-water interface, the corrosion destruction of oilfield equipment is associated with the heterogeneity of the water medium extracted from the well. The main role of the corrosion process in the fields in such a complex system is played by the physical and chemical properties of reservoir water, and the peculiarities of the distribution of individual phases in the reservoir, from the method of development and technology of extraction, collection and transportation of petroleum products.
