Zusammenfassung:In this article we review some theoretical approaches and reflect on how schools can learn, emphasizing the participation of the community and the school organization itself in processes of innovation and educational change. We also present some experiences of teachers who reflect on their teaching and who are committed to a relationship of dialogue with students and staff and the participation of families as the main tool for promoting change and improvement in educational processes. Finally, from a critical and considered perspective, we argue for a democratic, participatory type of school, envisaging the opening of schools to the educational community, as a form of innovation and change in educational organizations to respond to social, political, and cultural changes in our societies, this being key to the participation of all members in the educational community.
