Zusammenfassung:The term non-governmental organization (NGO) is widely accepted to refer to a legally constituted organization, in other words a legal person, created without the participation or representation of any government. A think tank (TT) is an organization, institute, company or group that conducts research and engages in advocacy in policy areas, in the sense of policies and not politics. An NGO wants to act in terms of sectoral policy with a universal vocation (humanitarian, development, health or environment to name only these cases) while the TT, a laboratory of ideas, devotes itself to one or more sectoral policies, and continues its research from a perspective of general interest. Each can take on a label specific to a political party or a simple ideological position, or even a territorial attachment, but what determines them is their sector of activity. Their ambition is to adjust the sector concerned – in which they present themselves as professionals – with more global objectives affecting the reproduction of society as a whole.
