Zusammenfassung: | Kindergartens in Singapore are operated by many churches to serve the educational needs of the community as part of their missional objectives. Church kindergartens straddle the middle ground between secular pre-schools and Sunday schools in providing a platformfor the education of young children, striving to provide a holistic environment that promotes both knowledge acquisition and spiritual growth. But how do we know whether a church kindergarten is effective for meeting the objectives of the church? This article studies a church kindergarten in Singapore in the context offulfilling God s mission. Results of a survey ofparents and guardians suggest that the kindergarten provided a conducive environment that largely met the expectations of the parents and guardians of the students. They valued the Christian-based curriculum and yearned to interact more with the teachers and students through various activities. The article concludes with the recommendation for close partnerships between the churches and the kindergartens to address future challenges and to use creative means to reach the community for God 's glory. |
