Zusammenfassung: | The accumulation of heavy metal in Polymedosa expansa increased due to industrial activities. This study investigated the efficiency of chelation method for heavy metal removal in P.Expansa. In this study, heavy metal analysis was conducted using flame atomic absorption spectroscopy (FAAS).Some parameters such as temperature and time were studied to investigate the optimum condition for removal of heavy metal cadmium (Cd), nickel (Ni), and copper (Cu) in P. expansa . The initial concentration of heavy metals for Ni, Cd and Cu were 5.128 µg/g, 0.929 µg/g and 2.462 µg/g. Treating the P. expansa with 200 ppm of potassium acetate for one hour at 32.50±0.50 °C and the heavy metals Ni, Cd and Cu decrease to 20.18 %, 25.30 % and 75.22 % respectively after chelation treatment. Then, through catalytic chelation technique, Ni, Cd, and Cu decrease to about 68.82 %, 65.59 % and 78.09 % respectively. |
