Zusammenfassung: | Fuels are widely used in the manufacturing, commercial and residential sectors. It is important to use energy and fuels that come from renewable sources. The majority of industries depend on high cost fossil fuels, resulting in inefficiencies. Biomass has the potential as a substitute for boiler fuel. A boiler is a vessel used to produce steam. Palm kernel shells have the ability to be used as a substitute for steam boilers. Replacement of steam generator fuel requires a technical study that considers fuel requirements, the amount of steam produced, and the heat requirements of the boiler. Steam development requires the use of a boiling system that makes use of solid fuels. The fuel used in this study is coal which has a gross calorific value of 6888 kcal I kg and palm shell has a gross calorific value of 4333 kcal I kg. Different types of fuel and fuel composition affect boiler efficiency. The study was conducted for 6 days using two boiler units. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of each fuel on boiler efficiency. Coal boilers produce 76.75% efficiency and coal 51.49%. Economically, palm kernel shells are 8.25% cheaper or Rp.115 kg of fuel. |
