Zusammenfassung: | There are three ways of conceptualising the identity of men and women involved in the circulation of literary forms and foreign texts developed in Poland during the Enlightenment era: firstly, the identity of men and women of letters as members of the privileged social classes; secondly, their identity as members of a cosmopolitan community; thirdly, their involvement in the emerging idea of nationhood. This article explores the relationship between these three aspects, particularly focusing on the ways in which notions of identity are expressed in texts which explicitly discuss the question of cultural transfer. |
