Zusammenfassung:The ability to control the properties of laser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS) is highly demanded for advanced technologies. We have studied the surface plasmon polaritons assisted creation of LIPSS in the vicinity of a predesigned gold step edge applying single-pulse femtosecond laser irradiation. We show that the heights of LIPSS can be manipulated by adjusting the laser beam shape. Our results pave the way towards controllable single-pulse laser nanostructuring. Keywords: LIPSS, ripples, nanostructuring, surface modification, femtosecond lasers
