The title invoked the figure of the storyteller, whose exchange with the audience-the storyteller says, "Krik?" and the audience must reply, "Krak!"-establishes her authority while acknowledging that hers is just one voice in a chorus. Some communities will send a young man into a forest and leave him there to fend for himself;if he comes back alive, he is considered a man. The butterfly that leaves the cold climate is not the same one that returns the following spring.
