Zusammenfassung:Two coordination polymers [(L 1 )Zn(pbtda)] n ( 1 ) and [(L 1 )Cd(H 2 O)(pbtda)] n ( 2 ), (L 1  = bis(4-(1 H -imidazol-1-yl)phenyl)methanone, H 2 pbtda = 2-phenylbutanedioic acid) are prepared under solvothermal conditions. They are characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectroscopy, and X-ray crystallography. Complex 2 forms a 1D chain, while complex 1 has a 2D structure of the {4 4 ·6 2 } topology along the [1 0 –2] direction.
