SYNTHESIS AND STRUCTURE OF A BINUCLEAR Pd(II) CHLORANILATE COMPLEX

A binuclear complex of palladium (Et 3 NH) 2 [Pd 2 (ca) 2 (μ-Cl) 2 ]·2CH 3 CN is synthesized by ligand-exchange reaction between [PdCl 2 (PhCN) 2 ] and (Et 3 NH) 2 ca (ca 2–  = chloranilate) taken in a 1:1 molar ratio. Its crystal structure is determined. Chloranilate ca 2– dianion is coordinated to...

Zusammenfassung:A binuclear complex of palladium (Et 3 NH) 2 [Pd 2 (ca) 2 (μ-Cl) 2 ]·2CH 3 CN is synthesized by ligand-exchange reaction between [PdCl 2 (PhCN) 2 ] and (Et 3 NH) 2 ca (ca 2–  = chloranilate) taken in a 1:1 molar ratio. Its crystal structure is determined. Chloranilate ca 2– dianion is coordinated to Pd(II) as C-donor bidentate ligand. Using cyclic voltammetry (CV) of the complex in CH 3 CN, non-reversible oxidation at E a  = 1.58 V and quasi-reversible reduction with E b  = –0.80 V and E a  = –0.54 V (relative to Ag/AgCl) is found. The electron structure of the complex is examined.
