According to the Household Drug Survey conducted by the National Council on Drug Abuse (NCDA) in Jamaica, "alcohol continues to be the most widely used drug in Jamaica, with 40 per cent of the population or four out of every ten people reporting that they currently use the substance". According to the NCDA, there were more than 200 calls to the Council's national substance abuse helpline between June and September 2021 compared to less than 50 for the corresponding period in 2020.
